I live in the Oceanside, CA area and daily see more deployments of troops to the Middle East. I wanted to look at some passages dealing with warriors. I work in a bank locally and deal with Marines almost daily. My heart goes with these brave men and women, and the sacrifices their families must make tug at my heart. I pulled a couple of passages that are in the Old Testament.
Ezekiel 39 :3,9,10
39:3
Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand, and cause the arrows to fall out of your right hand.
39:9
"Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and bucklers, the bows and arrows, the javelins and spears; and they will make fires with them for seven years.
39:10
They will not take wood from the field nor cut down any from the forests, because they will make fires with the weapons; and they will plunder those who plundered them, and pillage those who pillaged them," says the Lord God.
2 Samuel 22
22:35
He teaches my hands to make war, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
Throughout the Old Testament there are many references to the wars and trials and tribulations that the Israelites had to fight. Samuel is a continuation of David's thankfulness for God's deliverance and blessings. Ezekiel is a prophetic book, and accounting of the prophet's sight of Gog.
I am not about to go into the whole prophecy of the end times, that's not my place. I just want to remember our service men and women. What they are about to do is justified. There is evil in this world, and they are defending us from that. God Bless them and their families!
